An apostille certifies that a document is a true copy of the original. Official documents that will be used outside of the United States often require an apostille.

How to get an apostille
To request an apostille on your IU Bloomington transcript or diploma:
- Complete and sign an apostille request form.
- Include a pre-addressed, stamped envelope or pre-paid shipping label from UPS, FedEx, or DHL.
- Follow the instructions for submitting the form. (If you are ordering both a transcript apostille and a diploma apostille, please make a note of this on both forms.)
Note that it will take five to seven business days after receipt of all materials, so plan ahead. Processing a document with an apostille takes extra time, because it must be sent to the Indiana Secretary of State before it can be delivered. If you require a duplicate diploma for your apostille, expect it to take an additional month.
