Information for Donors

What you need to know as a scholarship donor

Thank you for your investment in education. By helping students attend Indiana University, you’re helping them prepare for a lifetime of success.

Read on to find out the details of how to make sure the student you’re funding gets the full benefit of your generosity.

When to submit funds

To make sure the student’s account is credited before charges are due and to prevent the student from accruing late fees, be sure to submit funding by:

  • August 1 for the fall semester
  • December 1 for the spring semester
  • April 1 for summer sessions

Your scholarship won’t credit to the student’s account until we’ve processed the funds.

Please note that we do not bill you for scholarship payments. If you require an invoice or bill, you should request that the student provide a copy of his or her account statement. If you require bills for housing, books, or other educational costs, you must ask the student to provide the appropriate documentation.

How to submit funds

You can mail checks directly to the Office of the Bursar. Make checks payable to Indiana University. Mail scholarship checks and a completed External Scholarship Donor Form to:

Indiana University - Office of the Bursar
P.O. Box 6448
Bloomington, IN 47407

Scholarship checks for a student attending another IU campus should be mailed to the campus where the student is enrolled.

The canceled scholarship check serves as your receipt.

I give to IU because I want students to know there is someone who really backs them, someone who wants them to do well. I think that is invaluable to a young person.
