Diplomas

Due to COVID-19 shelter in place precautions our office is working remotely. The following diploma services have been halted until further notice:

  • Delivery of any printed diplomas
  • Diploma apostilles
  • Diploma pickups

Students needing expedited diploma verification are encouraged to purchase a CeDiploma (electronic diploma). CeDiplomas are available to May 2018 and later graduates who have no holds on their record and who have a CeCredential account or an active IU email account. Read more at https://cecredential.iu.edu/ and email diploma@indiana.edu with any questions or concerns.

FedEx delivery for diplomas destined for non-U.S. locations is more important than ever. FedEx payment links will be sent only after degrees are awarded and the date has been determined for on-campus operations to resume. If you will be relocating after mid-July to an area where will you be unable to make payment via PayPal, please email diploma@indiana.edu.  

FAQs

I expected to attend an event on campus. Where can I determine if the event has been canceled?

All events are canceled starting March 27 through July 31. The campus is closed to all but essential personnel. 

How do I drop a class?   

After the first week of classes, you will need to use the “Late Drop/ Add Classes” application in One.IU.

If I drop after the auto W grade deadline, will I still receive a W?    

If a student withdraws after the first week of classes, the classes in which the student was enrolled will be retained on the student’s record with a grade of W or F (as appropriate) and a notation of the date of withdrawal.

To qualify for the grade of W after the deadline, a student must be passing the class(es) on the date of withdrawal. If the student is failing, the grade on the date of withdrawal will be F.

What other changes might affect my enrollment or other services?

Students who have not submitted state-mandated immunization documents will still be able to enroll in summer and fall 2020 terms while they work to complete those requirements.

The apostille service and distribution of all paper diplomas are temporarily suspended. In lieu of these services, students/alumni are encouraged to consider purchasing a CeDiploma or use alternatives including Degree Verificationsofficial transcripts, or unofficial transcripts.

Continue to direct Residency Applications through the secure contact form. Any submission of a paper application will result in significant delays.

Will summer classes be held in person?

All summer classes will be online. Off campus independent study, internships, clinicals, etc. are at the discretion of the School/Dean. 

Will we be able to attend New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation will be held online. More information can be found on the First Year Experience website. 

I was planning to attend an event on campus this summer. Will I still be able to attend?

All summer events are canceled through July 31, 2020.

If I make changes to my schedule will I be charged a fee?

The campus will not be assessing Late Registration or Late Schedule Change Fees for summer. 

Are students permitted on campus during the summer terms?

Currently all campus buildings are locked. Students are not permitted to be on campus until further notice. 

How long do I have to make changes to my summer schedule of classes?

The use of eDrop has been extended through the last day of classes for each summer session. Additionally, an instructor may assign a grade of W or F for any drop requested after the Auto W deadline for each session (see calendar).

I need assistance registering for classes. What should I do?

Students with disabilities that prevent self-registration should contact AES or their advisor for assistance registering for classes. Those without internet access should contact their academic advisor for assistance registering for classes. 

How should I submit my residency application?

Students should submit residency applications through the Student Central secure contact form. Any submission of a paper application will result in significant delays.

How do I submit an apostille request for my diploma? 

Provision of apostille service and distribution of all paper diplomas are currently suspended. Students are encouraged to purchase a CeDiploma whenever possible. 

What are the costs for taking classes in the summer?

I still owe some of my spring charges and I may be a little late with my April payment. Can you work with me to keep my account in good standing?

No late fees will be charged in Bloomington for April or May. Any charges will still show as due but late fees will only accrue on charges due prior to this semester. Contact Student Central if you are concerned about any remaining balance.

I am concerned that my grade will not reflect my effort or abilities, given the disruptions during the semester. Will other options be considered?

Where possible, faculty may be able to assign a grade of S (Satisfactory) instead of a standard letter grade. Please ask your instructor if you have questions regarding S grades or pass/fail options.

Will an S grade count for degree requirements and prerequisites for the next level course?

Yes. S grades will count for degree requirements and prerequisites for courses completed in spring 2020 only.

Will an S grade count toward the maximum elective pass/fail classes that can be taken?

No. The S grade will not impact the limits for the number of courses that can be taken pass/fail.

Will an S grade count for admission to a different IU Bloomington program?

Yes. S grades will count for admission to a different IU Bloomington program for courses completed in spring 2020 only.

How is an S grade calculated into GPA?

S grades calculate into hours completed but are not calculated into GPA.

Have any dates changed for this semester?

No changes have been made to the schedule of Bloomington final exams at this time.

The use of the eDrop tool has been extended through the last day of classes for the Spring term (May 1). Drops will route normally through the Auto W deadline (see below) but route to the student’s school for approval following the deadline. 

The option to eAdd ended for full-term classes on Sunday, March 15 and will end for second eight-week classes on Sunday, April 19. To add a student to a class after these deadlines, the department responsible for the class should submit an Administrative Enrollment request through CART. The Auto W deadline for spring 2020 Regular Session classes is now Sunday, April 5. The Auto W deadline for spring 2020 Second Eight Week classes is now Sunday, April 26.

No changes have been made to adjust the end date of the term, with the exception of the GRD1 career Kelley Direct program. The KD GRD1 career has extended their last date from Thursday, May 7 to Thursday, May 14. Final grade roster deadlines will be extended.

No changes have been made to the schedule for generating spring 2020 final grade rosters, currently scheduled for Thursday evening, April 30. Instructors are to be notified the following day of the availability of rosters.

No extensions have been granted to faculty for submitting spring 2020 final grades, as of March 26.  Consequently, grades will still become official (Fully Graded Date) on Wednesday, May 13.

No extensions have been granted to the school deadline for finalizing spring 2020 degrees, as of March 26, 2020. The current/existing deadline is Tuesday, May 27.

 If I drop a class during the remainder of the spring term, will I be charged the late schedule change fee?

The late schedule change fee will not be charged for the remainder of the spring 2020 term. The campus will not be assessing Late Registration or Late Schedule Change Fee for summer. 

How do I got about requesting an S grade?

Contact your instructor before the last day of the term, May 1.
