An apostille is an additional form of authentication that certifies a document is a true copy of the original. Official documents that will be used outside the United States often require an apostille (see a list of countries that accept apostilles).
The apostille process begins with our office notarizing the requested documents. We then send the documents to the Indiana Secretary of State. You will need to provide a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope (U.S. Mail or FedEx). Once the Indiana Secretary of State applies the apostille they will send the documents back to you in the envelope you provide.
To request an apostille for your IU Transcript, please complete the form Apostille Request - Transcripts. This service is available by mail only. Walk-ins are not accepted.
To request an apostille for your IU Bloomington Diploma, please complete the form Apostille Request - Diploma. This service is available by mail, or you can drop off your request in person at Student Central on Union.
Please note that it will take our office 2-5 business days to process your request, so plan ahead to avoid delay.
